The Kraków Nativity Scene Competition celebrated 70th anniversary this year.
The first competition was organized in 1937, but the Second World War interrupted the organization of competitions, which were resumed in 1945.
Since 1946, the Historical Museum of Kraków has been engaged in the preparation.
Competitions were and are designed to preserve this beautiful tradition.
Nowadays, the Kraków Nativity Scenes are known throughout the world!
As usual, this Christmas, hundreds of artists in every age, joined by a common passion as well as great patience, took part in the competition.
They have spent plenty of time creating amazing constructions with lots of remarkable details.
Competition took place on 6th December, at the Kraków Main Market Square.
The results were announced on Sunday, 9th December.
Nativity Scenes were rated in three age categories: senior, youth and children.
In the senior category, there were four size groups: large, medium, small and miniature.
The Kraków Nativity Scene temporary exhibition will be on display until 24 February 2013 at the Krzysztofory Palace in Kraków.
