For some May might be the best time of a year-it’s already nice and warm, green. And it starts with long weekend- 1st and 3rd of May are public holidays in Krakow. As long as Labour Day isn’t exciting anymore, May 3rd- The constitution Day is one of the most important days of a year.
How do we celebrate?
Drill show on Rynek Główny, fun and games for everyone on Błonia, singing classes on Little Market Square and special mass in Cathedral in Wawel-all these to celebrate May 3rd Constitution Day. This year’s motto is: za3MAJsię (stop by)
The Constitution of Poland that was passed on 3.05.1791 was the oldest constitution in Europe and second oldest constitution on the world (after USA)
These were hard time for Poland-just 3 years before three countries-Russia, Prussia and Austria-ratified partiation treaty and annexed huge part of Poland to their territories. The Constitution showed we were still strong and not willing to give up easily
Our enemies response was another 2 partiations that made Poland disappear from world’s map for 123 years.
